Boomers Leaving Dogs in Hot Car

Dog in car including 'They will be fine for an hour'

Yesterday was about 90° F in my town. I live a few doors down from a local restaurant. Around lunchtime, my dog and other neighbor dogs start howling out of nowhere. It turned out, there was a Chrystler Pacifica parked on the street in front of my

As soon as I walk in, there were only 2 customers, a man and a woman about 70 years old. I asked the woman first if that is her vehicle with her dogs, and she brushed me off and said to talk to her husband. I did, and he argued with me about leaving his dogs in a hot car. The

restaurant is dog friendly and has a front and back patio to avoid this situation. He said he cracked the windows and parked under a tree, so they will be fine for an hour. I told him my thermometer said it was 87°F outside, and would he leave a baby in that same car? He

answered no, so I told him he shouldn't leave his dogs in the car, especially when they are howling and crying enough to upset neighbor dogs.

The restaurant owner quickly diffused the situation by inviting the Boomer to bring his dogs to the back patio. First the Boomer parked his vehicle and left the dogs again (I heard them cry again) and then finally took the dogs on the back patio with him. Knowing the restaurant owner, he would make sure the dogs have water.

Why do Boomer men especially have unhealthy relationships with their dogs? I have seen this pattern within my own family and it is strange.

My parents are like this. They "like" their dogs but won't do much other than the minimum. If they would have to spend like 500 dollars on them for a health issue, nope. Euthanasia (ask me how I know).

about 14,000 dollars in it. I knew they'd still think it's dumb but I could at least avoid the "don't ruin your future for a dog" bulls . I told them "not all of us are too poor to have a dog and plan for emergencies".

Now we have insurance so we only keep 4-5k but at least I don't have to listen to my parents drone on about that sh any time our pets are sick. It's bad enough without having to listen to them giving me "financial advice" at the same time.

Now I just don't ever tell them anything about my life that has any financial component. But for all the ones I know, literally everything is money, greed and how it will affect their bank account. Nothing more

New-Job1761 · 18h ago . I'm 85 and we treat our 2 dogs and 3 cats like we treat our kids, lovingly. If we take them out one of us stays in the car with the AC/heat on. We've taken in and rehomed several dropoffs who were skin and bone. Odd thing is, they were all sweet natured and got along with our crew. Why do people do this?

call to 911 to say you're doing it so they know it isn't a robbery however. If I do end up doing that someday, you best be believing after I get the dog out and into my car I'm damaging every ☐ window. Oops I tried them all and only one

dookle14 .16h ago Don't reason with them. Just call the cops and have them come respond to the situation. They need to learn via consequences, not have people begging them to do the bare minimum as pet owners.

Madame_Kitsune98 · 13h ago . This is the generation that left us in the car while they went shopping. Why are you so surprised they left their dogs in the car? Don't try to reason with them. Call the cops to break their windows.

Bluff City Tatter · 10h ago Not just Boomer men, unfortunately. Growing up my husband had a dog, but it was never allowed in the house. My MIL thinks pets should not be in the house. She just doesn't get people having dogs and cats in their homes. To her a neat house is more important than the love an animal gives.
